We help authors transform their manuscripts into eBooks and print-on-demand (POD) paperback books. Most often the manuscript file provided by the author is a Microsoft Word document but virtually any file format is acceptable. (Click here to learn more about converting an existing book to an eBook, or help developing an idea or content into an eBook.)
Transforming a manuscript into a book includes several steps such as:
- Development of front and back matter
- Development of a book cover
- Development of a back cover and book spine (if producing a POD book)
- Copy editing and proof reading
- Image processing (photos, screen shots, graphics, etc.)
- Table and sidebar design and processing
- Interior book design, layout and formatting
We provide as many or as few of these services as you need, but we always provide some level of interior book design, layout and formatting.
(If not already underway, sales and marketing support is a critical component at this stage. Click here to learn more about our launch marketing services and recommendations.)
We do not simply format your eBook or book. SellBox guides you through this process by providing project management, technical support, design and marketing consultation along the way. Our goal is to make sure the final book product meets your objectives, as well as your budget.
Pricing
We charge a project fee plus an hourly rate. The project fee for an eBook is $200 and an eBook + print book is $650. The hourly rate is $85 which applies to readying the book for publishing. This includes design, layout, formatting, publishing consultation and any other steps as outlined above except cover design. Front cover design begins at $200 and there is additional charge for designing the back cover and spine, as well as fees to purchase art work (if necessary).

Turnaround Time
Time to completion can vary greatly. It depends on what aspects of the publishing project we are handling and the client’s availability for review and consultation. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Print-on-Demand (POD)
We use CreateSpace exclusively. Their pricing is competitive and as part of the Amazon family they provide exceptional distribution options for small publishers.
File Formats
We create eBooks in the three key file formats of Mobi (Amazon), EPUB (B&N, Apple, Kobo, etc.) and PDF.
Quality Control
Each eBook is put through a multi-point testing process that also includes testing for compatibility with leading eReaders such as those from Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble. We also guarantee they pass EPUB Validation.
For POD titles the author can review a proof online or order a physical copy of their book. We highly recommend clients order a physical proof.
Distribution of Your eBook to Online Stores
We advocate direct distribution to online eBook stores and can assist our clients with establishing accounts, or setting up new titles in existing accounts. We assist with selecting keywords, categories and editing descriptions to maximize marketing and SEO effectiveness.
